Scavenger celebrates the completion and bottling of our last precious remaining barrels after the annual winemaking season. Always unique from vintage to vintage, our annual Scavenger Blend expresses the playful, wilder side of Flying Leap's production team. The 2019 blend is primarily of Grenache and Tannat wines sourced from our Block 1 vineyard near Willcox, Arizona. The floral and raspberry aromatics of the Grenache work well with the bold, fruit-dense flavors of the Tannat. We rounded out the blend with a small ration of Syrah from our winery estate and a smaller addition of Graciano. The result is remarkably well-balanced, with strong flavors of ripe plum, tar and clove spice on the finish. Always decant, then serve at room temperature with well-seasoned roasted, pan-seared or stewed game meats such as rabbit, duck and quail.
